KITCHEN ANGEL JOB DESCRIPTIONS

What are the Kitchen Angels (KAs)? This is one of the organized ministries at Hope Lutheran. Our mission is to provide Christian comfort and assistance in the form of meals during difficult times of illness and mourning for church family members. This may be providing meals after recovering from an illness or light meals after or before funeral services.

We have a great bunch of people (both men and women) in our Angel Fleet. We are divided into Angel Squadrons (teams). At this time we have three teams (A, B and C), along with Floaters (Fill-in Angels) and Angel Sponsors (those who can provide supplies and/or financial assistance, along with prayers), and an Angel Guide. We will be rotating teams, so that no one team or group is overwhelmed or overworked.

Procedure
Pastor/ church secretary/Doris Edmunds will contact KAC (current kitchen angel coordinator) with as much information as possible. KAC will contact Angel Target (AT - meal recipient) to find out if they would like to receive meal(s). KAC will use Angelic Information Sheet (AIS) to get all pertinent information. See Women of Hope Bulletin Board for current KAC and Angel Roster.

The captain of the next team in line will be contacted and given all information. The team captain will activate her/his team and coordinate meal assignment. The team captain will also contact Angel Target to coordinate delivery. Activated team captain will contact KAC; advise what was delivered and if AT will require additional meal delivery. If necessary, KAC will call next team captain will be placed on “standby”, in case more than one meal distribution is required.

Job Descriptions

Kitchen Angel Team Member:

To provide and deliver food to those in need.

Kitchen Angel Team Captain:

Communicate to team members activation and other Angel business (Angel Gatherings, i.e., Cookie exchange, freezer filling frenzies, tea times, etc.)
Coordinate food and delivery for activation period

Bi-Monthly Kitchen Angel Coordinator:

Be the primary contact person for Kitchen Angels
Contact Angel Target for details and fill out Angelic Information Sheet for each
Activate Angel Teams in rotating order as needed
Coordinate inventory freezer at the beginning of the coordinator assignment
With team members, check church refrigerator for “science projects and discard any old and/or unidentifiable food items!

Kitchen Angel Guide:

Keep Angel Roster and forms up-to-date
Lead Meetings

Standing Meetings third Sunday after service (about 11:00 am) in January, March, May, July, September and November.
Call meetings as needed (i.e., after church funeral meal assignments, extended meal service)
Prepare agendas; take and distribute mini-minutes
Provide newsletter articles
